Renewable Energy India Wind Power
India investigates renewable power via wind farms.
Power trading major PTC India recently stated renewable energy projects form a key part of its diversifcation plans.
The firm recently commissioned its 6MW wind farm in Nashik, Maharashtra. The project, consisting of four Suzlon 1.5MW turbines, is located in the Sinnar district.
It has already obtained a "No Objection Certificate" from the Mahrashtra Energy Development Agency and expects to sign a power purchase agreement very soon to sell the power from its Nashik wind farm to the state grid.
The company spokesperson said that PTC India plans to set more wind power projects and is currently exploring states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. It also plans to set up biomass and solar power projects at a later stage.
PTC India has traditionally been into power trading business. The company has now diversifyed into consulting, financial services and project development. It also holds 37% share in RS India Wind Group that aims to build an integrated renewable-energy farm in Satara including 100MW of wind power and 5MW of solar power.
